This model is so dated. These orgs serve no purpose today other than creating jobs for those outside our community and their black mascots to ‘help us’. The bulk of grant money they receive actually helps those outside our community under the guise of helping us. None of these orgs exist to help us operate/navigate independent of government.

Black people are TOTALLY missing the bigger picture when it comes Black Panther… The movie has broken box office records… close to $200 million debut. One weekend, the majority black dollars. Somebody tell the ‘black folk ain’t got no money’ brigade. <br><br>$200 million we could have invested in our struggle, our own political party, in black entrepreneurship, black schools, a blueprint for our own sports leagues, entertainment companies, the creation of our own media, our own security, schools, jobs, food, water, land… buy back the hood. <br><br>$200 million didn’t break us. $200 million in one weekend would have been a great start. A beginning. Especially if invested in real black grass roots.<br><br>Instead we wore our emotions on our sleeves… we gave corporate Amerikkka insight into our psyche, a $200 million dollar blueprint on how to profit handsomely from black escapism, our need for validation, our insecurities and low self esteem… even in the era of Trump, at a time we should be formulating a blueprint for our survival. <br><br>And they got y’all calling it a win.
